Francesco’s the only Italian set to compete in an extreme solo race around the globe. Will he make it to the start line and finish the race — or meet with disaster?
Francesco Cappelletti is on the verge of fulfilling a lifelong dream. He’s the only Italian competing in the Golden Globe Race ‘18, an around-the-globe single-handed regatta without stops, outside assistance or modern navigational aids. He’ll go head-to-head against 17 other seasoned skippers along a 30,000-mile race course in some of the world’s most treacherous waters. Over the course of a year, our crew follows Francesco as he encounters one obstacle after the next while preparing for this highly controversial, extreme endurance adventure. With no major sponsors on the horizon to help cover mounting costs to refit his vintage yacht, 007, and with personal relationships hanging in the balance, Francesco begins to close himself off to the world—more determined than ever to take part in the race. But getting there will ultimately come at a high cost. The ensuing drama on land and sea drives all the action in 30,000 Miles to the Finish, one man’s personal odyssey–against all odds–to sail to the furthest reaches of the earth.
